Vandaniya Ushataiji Chati, former (3rd) Pramukh Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, relinquished her mortal frame peacefully yesterday morning at Devi Ahalya Mandir (Samiti Karyalaya) Nagpur. She was 91 years old.
Pujaniya Sarasanghachalakji, Dr. Mohanji Bhagwat paid his final homage to her today at Matrumandir (Rashtra Sevika Samiti Karyalaya) Hubali-Karnataka.
Mohanji expressed his shock on the sudden demise and recalled that he had recently celebrated the Raksha-bandhan with her. He prayed and said that her life was an inspiration not only for samiti karyakartas but for all. He presented condolences to the bereaved on his behalf and also on behalf of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Remniscensing over his association with her, Mohanji mentioned that her family was associated with Sangh from both sides. Vandaniya Ushataiji’s husband was member of the Ghosh Toli of Sangh. Since both husband and wife were active in the Sangh and Samiti, they could rarely be seen spending time together. The only time that both were seen together was when the members of the Ghosh Toli met at her house for baithak.
Sarasanghachalakji said that Usha taiji was a caring gruhini and always made sure that nobody left her home with an empty stomach. She used to mix with people with great ease. It took her hardly 10-15 minutes to break the ice with anyone, and a soft voice and kind words always marked her conversations. Ushataiji always inspired all Sangh and Samiti karyakartas with her attitude and determination.
Mohanji fondly recalled that she loved geet and that after she became the Pramukh Sanchalika, she inspired Sevikas for a geet prastuti karyakram that was exhibited in 70 shakhas. Ushataiji always invoked enthusiasm among karyakartas. He said that she was a woman of firm words and always made it a point to deliver on any given task. Her smiling face in every situation was inspired all. She was an Atmavilopi Vyaktitva!
Mohanji added that Ushataiji always spread the zeal wherever she went and that she was leaving behind a void. It is our duty in Sangh and Samiti, to fill this void by learning and practicing her virtues. Work has to continue and this is how the organisation goes on.
Rashtra Sevika Samiti Karanatak Uttar Prant Sah-karyavahika of Shrimati Ratnamala Ji also spoke and expressed grief on behalf of all sevikas. Pujaniya Mohanji planted a tree in the premises of Matru-Mandir in the divine memory of Vandaniya Ushataiji.
