A Lucknow District and Sessions Judge has written to the Registrar General of the Allahabad High Court requesting security for Additional District Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar who had ordered a videographic survey of the Gyanvapi premises in 2022.

Judge Vivekanand Sharan Tripathi of NIA court referred to the first information report (FIR) filed by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (UP ATS) against one Adnan Khan under various sections of the IPC and the UAPA for allegedly threatening Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar.

In 2022, judge Diwakar had allowed a court-appointed commissioner to inspect, conduct videography and collect evidence regarding the alleged existence of Hindu deities inside the Gyanvapi Mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

The letter by judge Tripathi said that the ongoing investigation by UP ATS has revealed a conspiracy by Islamic fundamentalist forces running Instagram account to kill judge Diwakar.

“Adnan above posted the photo of the Judge on his Instagram account and posted, ‘THE KAFIRS BLOOD IS HALAL FOR YOU THOSE WHO FIGHT AGAINST YOUR DEEN’ and KAFIR is written in red color above his eyes on his face. This post has been seen by many people and through this post, people associated with his ideology have been instigated to kill the judge hearing the Gyanvapi case and through the said post, religious sentiments of people of other religions are being hurt and animosity and hatred is being spread among the classes and anti-national work is being carried out,” the letter said.

If no action is taken, any untoward incident may occur, judge Tripathi stated.

“Through the said post, religious sentiments of people of other religions are being hurt and animosity and hatred is being spread among the classes and anti-national work is being carried out, by which the said Adnan is creating distrust and treason on religious grounds towards a democratic nation like Bharat and the judiciary, which is the basic part of its constitutional system,” it said.
