About 8000 people from 50 IT companies from Telangana took part in the event ‘Run for A Girl Child’ event held in 3 categories: 21K, 10K and 5K RUN at GMC Balayogi Sports Stadium, Hyderabad. About 500 people from Army took part in this event and they won prizes in most of the categories.
Arjun Ram Meghwal Union Minister of State, Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Parliamentary Affairs did flag off for 5K RUN and also walked the entire 5K stretch.
21K RUN flag off done by Colonel Vijay Joshi, Commanding Officer, Station Workshop, Secunderabad at 6.20 am. He participated in 10K Run and Meghna Reddy (Gymnast, commonwealth games medal winner). 10K RUN flag off was done by VC Sajjanar (Commissioner of Police) and Prof Apparao (Vice Chancellor, HCU)
Prizes were awarded to winners by Jayesh Ranjan – Principal Secretary, Govt. of Telangana and Durga Reddy, President of Seva Bharathi. 21K category first 3 positions went to Rajender Singh, Praveen and Sony Singh from Army.
10K category first 3 positions went to Prem Kunj, Yogesh and Krishna from Army.
5K adults category medal winners are Kishore Reddy, Saraswati Rai and Supriya.
5K kids category medal winners are Roshan, Trishna and Arunima.
Speaking on this occasion Seva Bharathi General Secretary Ramamurthy Prabhala mentioned that our mission is to empower 10000 girls in next 2 years by expanding to 500 Kishori Vikas centres in twin cities.
