A small village in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a brave act by a cop who carried a 10-kilogram bomb on his shoulder to save around 400 school children.
After a bomb was found in a local school’s backyard, a constable of Madhya Pradesh police department decided to take the matter into his own hands. The school authorities of the government school in Chittora village, nearly 170 km from state capital Bhopal, of Sagar district informed the police after discovering the explosive at the campus.
A team led by head constable Abhishek Patel arrived at the scene. The bomb squad was yet to arrive at the scene. As the school authorities were arguing what to do ahead, suddenly, Patel lifted the 12-inch bomb, weighing around 10 kg, and put it on his shoulders and started running. He ran far away from the school where around 400 children attend and ran till he was far away from the human civilisation.
The brave policemen later said he was part of drill before where a similar bomb was spotted and he had to carry and run with it.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan later announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to the policeman for his courageous act and saving many lives.
