In a major crackdown on Rohingyan infiltrators living illegally in Jammu & Kashmir, the government has decided to cancel their Aadhaar numbers and the Ration cards.
The government has also decided to crack the whip on government employees who have helped them in obtaining these documents.
In the recent crackdown on Rohingyas in Jammu & Kashmir, the security agencies recovered many Aadhaar cards and Ration cards from their possession.
The Ration cards have been issued by the Jammu & Kashmir administration. The agencies believe due diligence was not followed while issuing the cards.
The government is contemplating departmental and legal action against officers found involved in this.
The Aadhaar is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India. It is a unique 12-digit number issued to every resident of Bharat after capturing their biometric information and checking some identity documents.
The agencies believe the officers at the lower level of the bureaucracy have illegally issued huge numbers of Ration cards. It has helped the Rohingyan infiltrators in obtaining other documents.
The Ration cards should have been issued only after verification at the lowest level which helps in tracking the identity of the person.
