Silchar – 20.01.2019: Twenty one Bangladeshi nationals, including two women were deported back to their country through the international border in Karimganj district on Saturday. (19.01.2019).
The Bangladeshi nationals were detained at the detention camp of Silchar Central Jail after they were apprehended in the past at different points of time for entering or while entering into Indian territory through the two border districts Cachar and Karimganj of the valley. Fifteen of them were nabbled in Karimganj, while the rest were caught in Cachar district. The deported Bangladeshi nationals were indentified as Md. Nasir Hussain, Md. Abdul Wahid, Md. Khairul, Musst Jahida Begum, Sufia Begum, Mihir pebel Mia, Md. Safique Islam, Md. Saveel Ahmed, Md. Ramjan Ali, Md. Bablu Ahmed, Md. Suman Fakir, Md. Mausam Ahmed, Md. Nazim Uddin, Ashraful Alam Choudhury, Md. Tofique Ali, Md. Raju Ahmed, Dilwar Hussain, Md. Sukkur, Md. Shamin Ahmed, Md. Rubel Ahmed and Liton Kt. Das.
The deportation was carried out following an approval from the Ministry of Home affairs. Gaurav Upadhyay, Superintendent of Police of Karimganj has confirmed the deportation on Saturday and said all of them were sent back on 19.01.2019. It may be recalled that the first major diplomatic move to deport Bangladeshi nationals was initiated back in October 2016 when 10 detainees were sent back.
