A family in the CPM’s party village is facing some strict prohibitions from CPM. The party members, under the leadership of Panchayat member K R Janardanan have threatened Pattuvath Edadan Veetil Raghavan and his family on several counts.
Raghavan’s wife Meenakshy, who has been undergoing treatment, was threatened and told that she should stay at home itself chanting prayers and not to go for treatment out of the village anymore. The family was forced to withdraw their petition submitted against this threat by the CPM goons. The family is also banned from lighting lamps in the evening before deities and they are also to desist from watching Janam TV.
The CPM had conducted meetings in the village in relation to the breach of its diktatsand to explain its threats. Since these threats and meetings did not receive much acceptance from the villagers, the party cadres resorted to implement their diktats forcefully. It seems the CPM goons targeted Raghavan’s family as they are elderly and unable to defend themselves.
