Sri Thummalapalli Hari Hara Sarma garu was born in a village in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh;
He completed his post graduate in MA English from Andhra University and later completed LLM.
After working as lecturer in govt colleges in various parts of Andhra Pradesh including Rajamundry, Kurnool & Cuddapah , he took over responsibility and then retired as Principal, Vijayanagar College of Commerce , Mehdipatnam.
He was also one of the founders and served as founding Principal of Rachana College of Journalism, Narayanaguda.
He became a swayamsevak in late 1950’s of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In the spirit of swayamsevaktva, he offered his voluntary services in building a number of institutions.
He was serving as :
1. Jagriti Prakashan Trust – President ( 2000- 2005 ) & later Secretary ( 2007 upto 2017 ), which bring out the Oldest Telugu weekly, Jagriti.
2.Secretary, Keshav Memorial Educational society till date.
3 Editor of Shankar Krupa ( magazine by Sringeri Matha ) for over 2 decades and also
4. Guide for Sandipani, a magazine run by ABVP.
In the past, he held responsibilities of :
1. President of Samachara Bharati Cultural Association for over 12 years
2. Held responsibility State President of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad ( ABVP ) and served as Prant Pramukh for ABVP for over 30 years.
3. He was a national vice president for a term for ABVP and special invitee of its National Executive Council for many decades.
4. He was founding a member of Pragnya Bharati and editorial team member of Bharatiya Pragyna.
He breathed his last at the age of 78 years in Durgabai Deshmukh hospital in Vidyanagar, Hyderabad owing to lung infection. He is survived by his Wife, 1 son and 2 daughters.

Surendran ji, All-India Organising Secreteray of of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sang (BMS) said, “I lost a father figure who taught me about the element of human touch in karyakartas.”
Retd High Court Justice Sri L. Narasimha Reddy recalled his association with Sarma ji and said he lead a simple living with high thinking.
BJP MLA Kishan Reddy in his message said Sarma ji lived for national values.
Rampalli Mallikarjuna Rao, former secretary of Samachara Bharati said “Harihara Sarma was instrumental in starting Lokahitham monthly which reaches over 6 thousand villages today. He was also president of Samachara Bharati during 2004-2016”.
Anita Dayakar ji paid homage on behalf of TRS.
Sri Bal Mukundji recalled the contribution of Sri Harihara Sarma to Itahaas Sankalana Samiti.
Shailaja, daughter of Sarmaji said, “I am proud to be his daughter. He inculcated great values in our lives, and taught us to be a nationalist always.”
Editor for Shankar Krupa for 35 years. Sringeri Peeth always valued his work, said sri Kasi V Rao.
Lakshman Gunta from ABVP said, “He nourished ABVP like a mother.”
