Stating that terrorists and Naxalites were hellbent upon destabilising the country, senior RSS leader and Patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Indresh Kumar said that in spite of certain commonalities between the working of terrorism and Naxalism, the two cannot be compared.
Talking to journalists here during his visit to Jagdalpur on February 4, Indresh Kumar said that while the terrorists based their ideology on religion, the Naxalites believed in creating confusion. But both wanted to create an atmosphere of anarchy and capture power – a dream that would never be accomplished.
He insisted that foreign powers inimical to India were assisting both terrorism and Naxalism in the country.
Indresh Kumar said that he had worked as an RSS pracharak in Jammu and Kashmir and had seen terrorism from a very close quarter. The terrorists used religion as a shield to justify their acts of terror and violence against the people of other religions and try to break the unity and integrity of the country by indulging in anti-national activities.
He also said that conspiracies are being hatched to defame the RSS by some people and organisations that continuously accuse the RSS of being pro-Hindu and against non-Hindus. Squarely demolishing their theories the RSS leader said that the RSS believes in the principle of ‘Nation first’ and no one can raise a figure at its patriotism and dedication and devotion to the motherland. RSS always respected all the religions, he added.
He said that he always used to tour the country including the J & K and visit mosques, churches and interact with moulivis, padres and other religious leaders. He said that a number of humanist and patriotic organisations are working hand in glove with the RSS.
During the course of discussions, Kumar said that there are three types of intellectuals, viz, seculars who supported terrorism, the leftists who rally behind Naxalitess, but there is a large chunk of intellectuals who are nationalists and work for preserving unity and integrity of India with all its energies.
He alleged that some intellectuals and political parties that believed in the power of the gun were supporting terrorism and naxalism for their personal political interests.
In response to a question he said that the constitution has granted liberty to change religion but indulging in mass conversion resorting to allurements and bribes was a crime. Though an individual has full authority to choose his religion it was wrong to force him or allure him to change his faith, he said.
Referring to RSS Chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat’s views on reservation just before the Bihar assembly polls and those of RSS Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya preceding UP assembly elections, and their likely impact on the electoral prospects of the BJP, Indresh Kumar said that RSS has very clear views on this issue. This is constitutionally granted right and RSS honurs that. Reservation will remain in force as per constitution and those who deserve will get it definitely, he added.
He said that efforts should be made to preserve, protect and encourage tribal culture and arts as this is necessary and the centre should take steps to accomplish this task. The janjati people are nature worshippers and they represent the rich cultural heritage of our country.
