Basing a strong future for the children and youth of the country, the Indian Air Force has organized Paralympics events for special kids in Delhi. The objective of organizing this event is to encourage every child especially the disabled children to boost their confidence.
Seeking to inspire the specially challenged kids, the Indian Air Force organized this event setting 60 kids belonging to air warriors posted at different places in the state. The events will be held at the Western Air Command in Delhi where they would be participating in events such as track and field, bocce, table tennis, wheelchair race, shot put, relay race, badminton, roller skates, archery and football.
Devika Harikumar, President of the WAC Air Force Wives Welfare Association said that the idea is to inculcate a sense of social being among kids, grooming them to take care of their daily requirements, developing their motor skills, and above all, training them to participate in national and international-level Paralympic Games.
She emphasized on saying that the country lacks in providing the opportunities and infrastructure for the development of these special children. Adding to this she said that these children are given different treatment in India and abroad.
Organising Paralympics is our effort to make those children happy and convey to them that we care and are standing behind them at every step that they take on their own. IAF officers confirmed that once the event is organized at the command level, it would then be held at the national level so that differently abled children from all across the service can come and participate.
In this view, Deepika Harikumar also ensured that they would work in the same way encouraging and boosting the self-confidence of these children and this would continue. This will all together motivate the children to build their self-esteem and take up sports as an interest to conquer great achievements at national and international level.
