Kottarakkara (Kerala). The Pentecostal church did not conduct the funeral service of a young man for marrying a Hindu woman. The church leadership blocked the funeral services of Mathews Thomas (31) at Karikam Bright House, who died in a car accident on MC Road.
Mathews’ family has been Pentecostal believers for years. But when he fell in love with and married the girl he studied with, Mathews became hated by the church. At present, the church leadership is of the view that the body will not even be allowed to enter the cemetery.
Although the people’s representatives intervened, the church leadership refused to compromise. The current stand of the church has hurt the family a lot before the unfortunate grief subsides.
The body is being kept at the Taluk Hospital Mortuary due to uncertainty over the funeral arrangements. The deceased Mathews was a software engineer in Bangalore. The death occurred while preparing to return to work.
