Sagar Reddy, aged 28 years is an “Unmarried Father” for orphans, who himself is an orphan and has decided to dedicate his life to the cause of orphans.

At the age of one year, Sagar became an orphan when his parents were brutally killed by their own relatives citing inter caste marriage and he started his life in an orphanage.   At the age of 18, Orphanage asked their inmates to leave the place.  Without proper documentation, food and place to stay, Sagar Reddy spent more than a year in temples, foot paths and railway platforms doing odd jobs.  A donor spotted talent in Sagar and sponsored him for education.

After finishing degree and getting a job in a reputed company, Sagar was planning to settle in his life.  When he visited orphanage where he grew up, he came to know that many of his friends fell into bad company and his rakhi sister was forced into prostitution.  He realized the problem in functioning of orphanages.  They are ready to take small children, but will not allow the orphans to stay after the age of 18 years.  He decided to address this problem by starting “Ekta Niradhar Sangh”

Sagar ReddySagar and his Organisation take rooms/flats on rent and convert them into Rehabilitation Centres for young orphaned boys & girls for their stay, food and education out of his own pocket and with the help of sponsors. Till today, Sagar helped out more than 700 orphans for their employment and rehabilitated more than 1,125 to make them self-reliant in their lives. He arranged more than 60 marriages of orphaned girls by doing ‘Kanyadan’ himself and secured their future forever. Around 600 orphans are still under his shelter. His social support activity is now spread over states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.

Recognizing Sagar Reddy’s work, Keshav Shrishti puraskar was awarded to him.  Sri Suhasrao Hiremat (renowned social worker) and Sri Hanumanth Rao Gaekwad (CEO, Bharath Vikas Group) felicitated him with a plaque and 1 lakh prize money.  Many in the audience pledged their support to Sagar and Ekta Niradhar Sangh.
