Strengthening credible news embedded with national interest in the media is the need of the hour, said Writer and Senior Columnist Dr. Bhaskar Yogi. “Currently, we are dealing with media that is running a narrative with malicious agenda and has become a tool in the hands of breaking India forces,” he pointed out and suggested that, in this scenario, journalists should follow principles and teachings of Sage Narada to travel this rough road in building up a dharmic society. He was speaking at the Narada Jayanti Programme held in Hyderabad on 28 May.

The programme, organized by Samachara Bharati Cultural Association, is an annual event marked by felicitation journalists as its flagship programme. This year, the event was held virtually due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Dr Bhaskara Yogi, participating as key speaker, emphasized on several aspects of journalism such as integration and vision in presenting news in this dynamically changing society, particularly in the digital arena.

“Today, journalists should take inspiration from the likes of Shoabullah Khan, Suravaram Pratap Reddy, Oddiraju brothers who fought against the brutal Nizam and his puppet army razaakars with their writings even under dire circumstances. Their writings ignited the minds of common man in fighting for freedom of the country,” he said.

The media is capable to project any issue as big as Golconda fort, simultaneously it can also truncate the same into nothing. Taking note of this mighty strength, the responsible journalist should give top priority to the news that is in interest of nation and prioritizing the rest, Dr Bhaskar Yogi concluded.

Dr Gopal Reddy, president of Samachara Bharati and a member of University Grants Commission, in his introductory remarks, said unfortunately, universities failed to accommodate the teachings of Narada, the first ever journalist, in their journalism school curriculums.

Speaking on behalf of Samachara Bharati, he informed about the programmes and activities of the organization for media professionals. Sri Vallishwar Vice president and Sri Ayush of secreatery were present.

Sri Vedula Narasimham, Sri Mitra, Smt Devika, Sri Narsinga Rao, Sri Mallesham, Sri Venkat Ratnam, Sri Birappa, and many more journalists participated in the programme.
