“Vivek Band” Campaign To Spread Swami Vivekananda’s Legacy Launched

A month-long “Vivek Band” campaign to spread the Legacy of Swami Vivekananda, by wearing a Wrist Band with the message “BE GOOD – DO GOOD” was launched yesterday (28-12-2016) by Ramakrishna Math’s Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence Director Swami Bodhamayananda. The campaign is being promoted by Samskruti Foundation, aiming at involving over 10 lakh youth with slogan of “Charter Building-Nation Building”.

Speaking on this occasion, Swamiji exhorted the need to have a program on character building in all professional colleges. He recalled that Swami Vivekananda had given more prominence to  character building because the men with character will be able to preserve freedom in any sort of crisis.

Quoting the former President Radhakrishnan, he said that while many of us exist in the soil of India, but it was Swami Vivekananda who lived as soul of India. He expressed hope that this campaign will promote character building among the youth, which is essential for progress of nation.

JNTU Rector Prof N V Ramana Rao advised youth to have higher goals and move ahead with confidence, that brings success in whatever assignment they undertake.

In an emotional appeal, social activist Sri Annadanam Subrahmanyam asked youth to take a key role in the development of nation. “The future is yours, you have to transform nation’s future”, he added. As this campaign is aimed at youth towards character building, he also expressed his confident that that our youth will take Bharat to greater heights as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda.

This Vivek Band campaign will commence from Janauary 1, 2017 where a large number of youth will be promoted to celebrate National Youth Day on the Vivekananda Jayanthi January 12 at several places in Hyderabad. Wearing Vivek bands, they would take pledge “Be Good and Do Good”. This campaign will conclude on Netaji Yanathi day (January 23) by engaging youth in community service. On January 26, the youth will participate in flag hoisting in their respective localities.

Over 1500 selected students from more than 50 engineering colleges participated in this volunteer meet / Vivek Band launch program. Samskruti Foundation President Sri DRSP Raju, general secretary Sri D Durga Reddy, organizing secretary Sri B Narasimha Murthy and chief coordinator Sri Ravi Shankar Chavali organized and participated in this program.
